$5,022 to win David Stephenson Classic Set For September 12 and 13
Bryan Hulbert – SAPULPA, Okla. (September 2, 2025) Continuing to honor David Stephenson, what was the Iron Man 55 will become the David Stephenson Classic at Creek County Speedway, with the winner walking away with $5,022.
“We are very proud to continue an event in David’s name, and have it be something that he would be excited to see on the schedule,” stated Creek County Speedway promoter Matt Ward. “David was such a wonderful person, and gave a lot back to the racers, even letting me drive his car. Having that opportunity is something I will always cherish.”
Slated for Friday, September 12, and Saturday, September 13, the Ortco, Inc. United Sprint League presented by Same Day Auto Repair will headline the event with Friday’s preliminary showdown paying $1,000 to win, $200 to start.
Friday will run under the standard USL nightly format with the top four in the A-Feature locking into Saturday’s 50-lap championship event.
Saturday’s event will also pay $522 to start the A-Feature, plus $222 to all non-qualifiers, and $122 to win a Heat Race. The A-Feature will start with 24 cars. Getting there will use the standard USL format with the top four in Saturday Heat Race passing points locking into a dirty redraw with Friday’s four locked-in drivers.
Posted by USL to their Facebook page, “Nick Newton and Ortco Inc. are working on some beautiful custom trophies for this event. Ashley Newton has been hard at work gathering product sponsorship, and there will be quite a bit of product for drawing giveaways for teams Saturday night.”
They specified that teams must run on both Friday and Saturday to qualify for the giveaways.
