Bryan Hulbert – SAPULPA, Okla. (June 8, 2022) Opening the 2022 Sooner 600 Week at Creek County Speedway on Wednesday, a field of 105 entries rolled into the Oklahoma quarter-mile. Nearly losing the night to Mother Nature, it was a tight fit as the parking lot became the pits.

Rolling through a 38 race lineup, A-Features saw Frank Flud adding to his legacy with a sweep of both stock divisions. Jett Nunley returned to Victory Lane in Restricted, with New Mexico’s Peter Smith collecting his first career Lucas Oil National Open Wheel 600 Series presented by Hi-Plains Building Division victory in Outlaw.

Win No. 61 in A-Class, and No. 54 in Stock Non-Wing, Flud led a combined 50 laps between the two feature events. Pushing Flud’s overall win total to 14 on the season, the No. 81 was briefly challenged on restarts, Frank topped Stock Non-Wing by 6.284-seconds. Working traffic through the closing laps of A-Class, Oregon’s Ashton Torgerson was able to cut some time off Flud’s advantage but trailed by 1.982-seconds at the finish.

Jett Nunley’s third point’s paying win of the season, the No. 33 led from start to finish. Winning by 5.964-seconds, Lathe Griggs captured second after a battle with Brody Brown, who settled for third.

Racing out of Las Cruces, N.M., Peter Smith kept the theme rolling with all laps led by the No. 08 in the Outlaw A-Feature. The ninth winner in Outlaw, Smith was pursued to the finish by Johnny Boland, who trailed by 3.436-seconds. Arizona’s Elijah Gile took the final podium step.

Updates on Thursday’s parking will be posted, but as of now, teams will be able to pull into the Pits. Everyone with NOW600 and Creek County Speedway appreciates fans and teams for working with us to get Wednesday’s show in.

Sooner 600 Week continues Thursday at Creek County Speedway. Stock Non-Wing, A-Class, Restricted, Outlaw, 600cc Modifieds, and Junior Mini Stocks will be on hand. Gates open at 4:00 P.M. with racing at 8:00 P.M. (CDT). Tickets are $10 for Adults and free for Kids 12 and under. Pit Passes are $30.

Creek County Speedway is located at 18450 West Hwy. 66 between Sapulpa and Kellyville.
